Impact

The largest war-time veterans organization, the American Legion was chartered by the United States Congress in 1919 as a patriotic war-time veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness which now numbers nearly 3 million members, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.

Fountain Brothers American Legion Post 1619 consists of four dedicated groups: Post 1619 Members (Veterans), American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1619, American Legion Sons Squadron 1619, and American Legion Riders Chapter 1619. All four groups are actively involved in many of our fund-raising efforts and contribute to the strong sense of community found at the post. We are 315 members strong and often called the West Plattsburgh Legion.
